Can Routine Maintenance with a Med Spa Help Me With Common Skin Issues?

People sometimes think of med spa treatments as being a last resort, or as being only for serious skin problems. This couldn’t be further from the truth. At Balance Med Spa, we are more than equipped to handle serious skin concerns, and we do take pride in helping patients who haven’t found success with over-the-counter remedies and lifestyle changes. But that’s definitely not all we do. Our knowledgeable practitioners can also provide routine care to help address common skin issues, such as dry skin, blackheads, oily skin, and enlarged pores.

Here’s a closer look at some of our most popular skin maintenance treatments.

Waxing

Shaving is a popular way to remove body hair, but it can cause several skin conditions to get worse. For example, shaving can lead to more breakouts and clogged pores, and some shaving creams and gels may aggravate dry or sensitive skin. Waxing services are a good replacement for shaving and can lead to healthier skin in the long run.

Our friendly, talented practitioners can wax your upper lip, chin, eyebrow area, underarms, or full face. While waxing can cause some discomfort, our customers are often surprised how little pain it causes. You may have some redness or irritation for a day or two after treatment, but these side effects fade quickly to reveal healthy, hairless skin.

Microneedling

If you struggle with breakouts, clogged pores, or even some discoloration due to aging or sun exposure, you may want to schedule routine microneedling sessions. Microneedling involves the insertion of many tiny needles into your skin. This triggers your body’s healing mechanisms. In the days and weeks following treatment, clients notice improvements in skin tone and texture. You may also notice your skin appears more taut and toned. Microneedling is great preventative care for wrinkles!

Facials

No matter what specific skin issues you’re concerned about, we suggest scheduling routine facials. At Balance Med Spa, we offer several different kinds of facials, and we can also customize your facial to fit your own, unique needs.

The Balance Signature Facial is a common choice for those who have minor concerns about skin tone and texture. This relaxing facial uses steam to deeply cleanse your pores, followed by a custom mask to help refresh your skin. If you have a lot of blackheads and clogged pores, we may also recommend steam and extractions. This multi-step process is wonderful for relieving congested pores and preventing future breakouts.

Some of our patients have concerns about acne and congested pores on their back. In such cases, we usually suggest a Back Clarifying Facial. With steam and manual extractions, we give your pores a fresh start. A clarifying mask then helps calm your skin and keep it clear.

Exfoliating Treatments

Exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. Some people exfoliate at home by using a special scrub or even a cleanser containing a chemical exfoliant, like salicylic acid. However, it can be helpful to also schedule routine exfoliation treatments at a med spa like Balance Med Spa.

Exfoliation will leave your skin looking more dewy and glowing. Removing those dull, dead skin cells will also mean they can’t clog your pores and contribute to breakouts. So, most people notice they have fewer breakouts and blackheads after exfoliation. You may even notice that fine lines and wrinkles become less apparent.

At Balance Med Spa, we offer a few different exfoliation treatments, and we can recommend the one that’s best suited to your unique skin. Many patients love our chemical peel, which is customized to your skin’s own needs and sensitivity level. We also offer Jessner’s Peel, which uses a combination of Lactic Acid, Citric Acid, and Salicylic Acid to reveal new, healthy skin. Or, in cases where your skin looks overly dull, we may recommend dermaplaning, a procedure in which a small scalpel is used to remove dead skin cells and tiny hairs.

Botox and Neurotoxins

While Botox is often considered a treatment for wrinkles, it can also be a preventative. If you get a little Botox when wrinkles are just beginning to form, you can often prevent those wrinkles from worsening. Patients often opt for these routine “touch ups” for smile lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet. Botox is FDA approved, and the effects are instant.

At Balance Med Spa, we love when clients come to see us for preventative care and maintenance. Most are able to address common skin issues with these simple, non-invasive procedures. To learn more, or to schedule a consultation, feel free to contact our Orlando office.
